Daniel Craig Reacts to ‘Knives Out 2’ Streaming Release Ahead of ‘Wake Up Dead Man’
For the second ‘Knives Out’ picture, the release plan changed from a full theatrical run to a more constrained run. Even though ‘Knives Out’ was a huge success, OTT only gave ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ a one-week theatrical run, earning an estimated $13 to $15 million, which is far less than the $312 million made worldwide for the original movie. The OTT platform has consistently defended its choice to put its streaming service ahead of movie theatre runs. The release schedule for ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, the third instalment, is still unknown.
The principal detective Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, has stated that he would want a lengthier theatrical run for the third movie. In an interview with The New Yorker, Craig, who has appeared in five James Bond movies, talked about his thoughts on the importance of a theatrical release.

He admitted that Glass Onion’s brief theatrical run was disappointing, but he refrained from getting upset, stating, “It saddens me that people won’t have that experience.” Additionally, he hopes that the streaming platform will think about allowing viewers to see the third movie in theatres, given that many fans have indicated that they would like to. The next movie is perfect for the big screen because of its stellar cast, which includes Josh O’Connor, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Glenn Close, and Andrew Scott.
Craig believes that the OTT will take note of the fans’ desire to watch the film in cinemas and provide them with that experience. It is unclear if Netflix will continue its streaming-first strategy or create an exception. You can currently watch ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’ on the OTT.
