Daniel Craig Reflects on Being Typecast Post-James Bond

At Chapman University, Daniel Craig recently spoke to 500 students about his career, personal experiences, and his most recent film, ‘Queer’, as part of a special episode of The Hollywood Reporter's Awards Chatter podcast. After playing the renowned role of James Bond, a student inquired if he was worried about being typecast throughout the session.

When the part was first offered, Craig acknowledged that he was very concerned about the prospect of being typecast. He explained his hesitancy by saying he wasn't in a rush to make the change and was happy with his job before Bond. He has previously stated that he doesn't care about the casting of the next ‘007’, indicating that he has little interest in who might take over the part in spite of the legacy.

Craig plays William Lee, an American exile navigating a gay subculture in 1950s Mexico City, in his most recent film, ‘Queer’, which was directed by Luca Guadagnino. As Lee starts a complex connection with Eugene Allerton, a young American student, the movie delves into themes of love, desire, and identity. Movie.
