Daniel Radcliffe, famously known for his role as Harry Potter, has consistently stated that he has no plans to return to the character. Despite his reluctance to reprise the role, Radcliffe admitted that the idea of another actor stepping into Harry Potter’s shoes feels “weird” to him.
Back in 2015, when J.K. Rowling announced the two-part play ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’, Radcliffe made it clear that he would not be returning to play the beloved character. He described it as strange to see someone else take on the part. This revelation came during an appearance on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ with Andy Cohen, where Radcliffe expressed his mixed feelings about the prospect.

At the time, Radcliffe, who was still relatively young, was not suited to play the older version of Harry featured in the play, which takes place 19 years after ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’. The play, which debuted in London’s West End in the summer of 2016, focused on Harry’s son, Albus. Radcliffe also chose to stay away from the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ series, though he praised the actors involved.
In a recent interview, Radcliffe shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming ‘Harry Potter’ TV series, set to debut on HBO Max in 2026. Although excited about the new adaptation, he reaffirmed his decision not to reprise the role and mentioned that he plans to enjoy the series as a fan, rather than as a participant.
