Danny Elfman, who created the soundtrack for ‘Wednesday’, said that he was surprised by the success of the show. Elfman collaborated with Chris Bacon for the soundtrack of the show. The show also marks his latest collaboration with Tim Burton, who is also the executive producer of the show. This is after they previously worked together on ‘Batman’, ‘Edward Scissorhands’ and ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ among many others.
The show has crossed over 1 billion viewing hours in a month, which makes it one of the only three shows to ever do it along with ‘Squid Games’ and the season four of ‘Stranger Things’. Elfman stated, “When ‘Batman’ came out, I was composing a cut that was so dark on the video I could barely even tell what was happening half the time. I thought, ‘This is going to be a little cult film at best.’” He added, “I thought ‘Wednesday’ would be, like ‘Batman’, I thought it would be a little cult thing.”
Elfman also spoke about the influence ‘The Addams Family’ had on him. He said, “‘Wednesday’ was just fun. I grew up on ‘The Addams Family’ but I also really dug the Charles Addams cartoons even more so.” He noted that the creative process was a lot of fun, since it allowed him to add a variation to the shows he already liked from before.
‘Wednesday’ is a series which was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. It follows the life of Wednesday, who is played by Jenna Ortega. It unravels her life as a student at a supernatural boarding school called Nevermore Academy, and puts her in the face of adventure. The show has an impeccable cast including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Fred Armisen, Gwendoline Christie and Christina Ricci.
