Deftones Have Announced Their Third Annual Dia De Los Deftones Event

The third iteration of the Dia De Los Deftones concert has been announced by Deftones. Following a two-year break due to the pandemic, it will resume on 5th November at Gallagher Square in San Diego’s Petco Park.

Deftones will be performing with Turnstile, Phantogram, Freddie Gibbs, Audrey Nuna, Destroy Boys, Provoker and Cold Gawd.

Chino Moreno, lead singer of the band Deftones, commented about the occasion:

“We’re hyped to be bringing back Dia de Los Deftones this year.”

“We take a ton of pride in curating it; it’s a chance for us to put forth and showcase some artists that we love and respect, and putting on an amazing day of music and culture for our fans. We’re excited to see everyone again out at Petco in November.”

Frank Delgado and Abe Cunningham of Deftones chatted with NME backstage at Download Festival in June about the band’s future, the coming metal wave and the 25th anniversary of their second album ‘Around The Fur’.

The Sacramento metal veterans performed Donington Park for the fifth time in June, matching glam-rock legends and headliners KISS in that department.

But unlike KISS, Deftones don’t have any immediate plans for retirement. Or, to use the drummer Cunningham’s words: “F**k no! We just sat at home for three years. We’ve got tonnes of fire to keep doing this.”

Delgado remarked that the band was “still only scratching the surface” of their renowned 2020 album ‘Ohms’.

“It feels like we’re only just getting started,” he said. “We open with a new one as well. (‘Genesis’) is a banger and we feel it deserves attention.”
