Demi Lovato has A New Punk-Rock Remix Out
Demi Lovato came back with a bang in 2020 and she’s delighted us every step of the way. Her first single of the year titled, ‘I Love Me’ has officially received a remix featuring Travis Barker.
Now, prior to the release, Demi Lovato took to Instagram to unveil the song’s new cover art. It showcased the text, ‘I Love Me’ written in white paint, jagged lines and all. She expressed her excitement over this project through a string of emojis in the caption.
Interestingly, may we remind you that track is literally titled, ‘I Love Me (emo version)’. And boy, does it do full justice to that aesthetic. Complete with a Myspace-themed lyric video, this version’s lined with just the right amount of drums and guitar riffs to make it quite the Punk-Rock anthem. Strangely enough, this new spin on the song is reminiscent of some of Avril Lavigne’s early numbers like ‘What the Hell’ and ‘Smile’.
And yet, the lyrics are entirely Demi Lovato. It’s almost like an inner monologue put down on paper.
Haters that live on the internet
Live in my head, should be paying rent
I’m way to good at listening
All these comments f**king up my energy
‘Cause I’m a black belt when I’m beating up on myself
But I’m an expert at giving love to somebody else
The power and moral boost brought forth by the lyrics actually appear to gel even better with the Punk-Rock instrumental. Since Lovato’s overdose and subsequent hospitalization in 2018, she’s had to overcome a lot. This song appears to be her outlet to admit that she’s finally learnt to love and accept herself.
Well, we can’t wait to see what else Demi Lovato has in store for us. But for now, she’s truly left us well fed.
