Blizzard has quietly made a significant quality-of-life update in Diablo 4 that wasn’t listed in the official Season 8 patch notes. The Raven of the Tree, a popular NPC from a previous season, has been reintroduced and is now available in every major town—though with a few key differences from its earlier version.

Season 8, titled Belial’s Return, includes several major additions, such as the return of Belial from Diablo 3 as a boss in the revamped Boss Lairs, and a new world event called Deadly Apparitions, which spawns in the wilderness and can be tackled by players at any difficulty. As with previous seasons, a series of balance changes have been applied to all classes.

However, players quickly noticed a change that Blizzard hadn't advertised: the Raven of the Tree is back. Originally introduced in Season 7 and first spotted on the Public Test Realm, this NPC previously allowed players to turn in Grim Favors remotely during Headhunt events—areas similar to Helltide zones with enemies powered by Witchcraft. Although the Raven has returned, it no longer lets players turn in Whispers remotely, nor does it appear at waypoints.

After players pointed out the omission, Blizzard acknowledged the oversight in a forum post and promised to update the patch notes to reflect the addition.

Season 8 also features a redesigned battle pass, now called the Reliquary. This new system lets players unlock rewards in any order, similar to how battle passes work in games like Call of Duty. There are four Reliquaries—one available to all players for free, and three paid options with exclusive cosmetics such as armour sets, weapons, mounts, and pets.
