‘Disclaimer’ Trailer: Cate Blanchett Confronts Chaos in New Apple Series

Alfonso Cuarón’s highly anticipated limited series ‘Disclaimer’ is set to premiere on Apple TV+, and a new trailer has been released, ramping up excitement for the psychological thriller. Based on Renée Knight’s best-selling novel, the series features a stellar cast, including Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, alongside Academy Award nominee Sacha Baron Cohen, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George, and Hoyeon.

The narrative centres around acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft, portrayed by Blanchett. Known for exposing the misdeeds of others, Catherine’s life takes a dark turn when she receives a novel from an unknown author.

Horrified, she discovers she is the protagonist in a story that reveals her deepest secrets. The trailer opens with a glimpse of Catherine at a journalism awards ceremony, celebrated by her husband Robert, only to swiftly shift to moments of tension and impending chaos.

An unidentified narrator sets the tone, stating, “All these years, you have concealed parts of yourself from the world.” As the trailer progresses, it becomes clear that Catherine’s carefully maintained facade is about to shatter. A dramatic scene unfolds with a fire alarm ringing, capturing a tense moment as Catherine burns a book in her kitchen sink, prompting a frantic response from Robert, who calls out, “Catherine? Catherine! What are you doing?”

Kline’s character adds depth to the narrative with a profound voiceover, stating, “They say that destiny knocks at the door. That is not true. Destiny doesn’t knock on any door. It crashes in without permission and grabs you mercilessly by your soul.” 

His haunting words echo throughout the trailer, emphasising themes of loss and grief, while showcasing a montage of characters facing their own tragedies. The intricate storytelling promises a gripping exploration of secrets and the consequences of exposure, setting the stage for a thrilling viewing experience.
