Disney’s ‘Descendants 5’ in the Works with Kylie Cantrall & Malia Baker Returning

Prepare yourself for yet another journey through the ‘Descendants’ realm!
The creation of a fifth part in the cherished TV movie franchise has been formally revealed by Disney. The film will be a sequel to ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’, which debuted in 2024, however, the exact title has not yet been disclosed.
Malia Baker and Kylie Cantrall will return to their roles as Cinderella’s daughter Chloe and Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts. As Maddox Hatter, Leonardo Nam is also making a comeback.
The future movie, which is mostly set in modern-day Wonderland, will examine what Red and Chloe’s “happily ever after” actually entails after their time-travelling exploits. The narrative will expand on ‘The Rise of Red’s caution that changing time has repercussions.
Brendon Tremblay as Max Hatter, Alexandro Byrd as Luis Madrigal, Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, and Liamani Segura as Red’s sister, Pink, are joining the cast. Later on, more characters will be revealed. Cantrall and Segura previously collaborated on ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’, thus Segura’s casting also represents a small reunion for the actor.

Ayo Davis, head of Disney Branded Television, emphasized how much fans adore the ‘Descendants’ franchise and expressed excitement for the upcoming chapter. With a gifted cast and creative team, she assured us that the new movie will carry on the tradition of the series by adding more magic, music, and poignant storytelling.
Kimmy Gatewood will direct, and returning screenwriters Dan Frey and Ru Sommer will co-write the story with Tamara Chestna. Production is anticipated to start shortly.
Red and Chloe’s paths crossed during a party in Auradon in the previous movie, ‘Descendants: The Rise of Red’, only for unanticipated pandemonium to break out. The two had to use a magical pocket watch made by the Mad Hatter’s son to go back in time and halt a coup attempt that would alter the path of history.
‘The Isle of the Lost’ novel series served as the inspiration for the ‘Descendants’ franchise. The adolescent offspring of Disney villains Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson), Jay (Booboo Stewart), and Carlos (Cameron Boyce) are the subject of the first three movies, which made their Disney Channel debuts in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

‘Descendants: The Royal Wedding’, an animated special that focused on Mal and King Ben’s wedding, debuted in 2021 after the trilogy. Boyce died after an epileptic seizure in 2019, therefore this special was also the first ‘Descendants’ endeavour without him. ‘The Royal Wedding’ and ‘Descendants 3’ both honoured the deceased actor.
In 2026, the next ‘Descendants’ movie is scheduled to be released. The first four movies are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
