Doja Cat Thinks it’s “Incredibly Disrespectful” to Compare Her Shaved Head With Britney Spears’

Doja Cat has had enough with the comparisons people have made of her to Britney Spears for the shaven head! Doja stated that the comparisons were very disrespectful and harmful considering what Spears was going through at that time. Britney Spears very publicly shaved her head in 2007. Later, she was admitted to a hospital under a temporary psychiatric assessment ruling, which further placed her under a controversial conservatorship. This is when her father took control of all her personal and professional matters including her finances.

This conservatorship was finally terminated in court in 2021. The whole act was “abusive” and left Spears “traumatised.” Spears wanted to charge her father, Jamie for conservatorship abuse but he denied her claims.

Doja Cat said: “It’s so incredibly disrespectful for people to be minimising what Britney went through and make a joke out of something that was very serious and a big deal in her life. Every time I see a comment like that, I can’t compute what’s happening, other than it’s just an awful thing.”

She also claims that her decision to shave her head was purely for a change. She said, “I wasn’t working out and wasn’t really taking care of myself in the way that I wanted to. I was like, ‘I need to do something,’ so I just chopped it all off. And I could see the shape of my head. I could see my whole face… it’s the best choice I’ve ever made, and I’ve never felt more beautiful.”

She also revealed that she is working on an album which she plans on releasing by the end of 2023. “I want to explore punk,” she said. “But not pop-punk. I feel like we have enough pop-punk artists right now. And if there needs to be more, then let there be more, but I don’t think I’m the one to do it.”

She added, “I want to explore more of a raw, unfiltered, hardcore punk sort of thing. It’s just something that I’m doing for my own personal fun — getting some drummers and guitarists together. And I don’t even know if that’s gonna make it out there.”

Her latest album, ‘Planet Her’ featured the song ‘Kiss Me More’ with SZA. The song earned the singer her first Grammy Award. She also featured in Tyga’s ‘Freaky Deaky’ and Post Malone’s ‘Twelve Carat Toothache’ cut ‘I Like You (A Happier Song)’. She was also credited for ‘Vegas’ from the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Elvis’. Doja appeared at the Paris Fashion Week with 30,000 ruby red Swarovski crystals on her body, as part of Schiaparelli’s Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2023 show.
