Dr. Dre Reveals He’s Uncomfortable Performing Without Snoop Dogg

Dr. Dre recently discussed his deep connection with Snoop Dogg, revealing that their relationship goes well beyond just making music together. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, after performing at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games handover event—alongside Billie Eilish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers—Dre shared insights into their partnership.

Dre described their collaboration as extraordinarily special, expressing that he feels uneasy about performing without Snoop. He explained that their chemistry is exceptionally unique, and he feels incomplete on stage without his partner. According to Dre, their roles shift depending on the setting: on stage, Snoop is the leading star, while Dre supports him. In contrast, when they are in the studio, Dre takes on the leading role while Snoop plays a more collaborative part.

The performance at the Olympic handover, featuring their hit ‘The Next Episode,’ was pre-recorded due to the time difference between Paris and Los Angeles. Dre revealed that the event was kept secret thanks to the Olympic Committee’s strict measures, including prohibiting cell phones to ensure no details leaked. The performance was filmed a day before it aired to maintain confidentiality.

In addition, Dre updated fans on his and Snoop’s highly anticipated project. They have completed work on the sequel to their influential 1993 album, ‘Doggystyle.’ Titled ‘Missionary,’ the album has moved into the mixing and mastering stages as of April. Although a specific release date has not yet been set, it is expected to come out later this year, continuing their legacy of groundbreaking music.
