What does one of the richest businessmen in the world and one of the most renowned performers in contemporary hip-hop music have in common? Far more than you might anticipate. On 6th July, Jeff Bezos and Drake shared their admiration for each other’s amazing success stories on Instagram. Both of their journeys began in obscurity and culminated in fame around the world.

One of many who commented on the post was the multi-billionaire businessman, who merely made an appropriate allusion to one of Drake’s most well-known songs. Bezos responded saying ‘Started from the bottom, and now we’re here’.

In the picture, Drake is seen outside Apartment 1503, which is where he and producer Noah ‘40’ Shebib recorded their first songs in around 2009. He has previously discussed it in interviews and in his music, rapping about it in the line ‘Apartment 1503, some couches and paintings/ Where you record with two others that want the same things/ Yeah, it starts to feel better than home feels’ on the song ‘The Ride’ from his 2011 album ‘Take Care’.

Bezos, on the other hand, began his spectacular climb in the early 1990s when he and his then-wife MacKenzie Scott established Amazon, which at the time was only an online bookshop, in a rented garage. A few decades later, the businessman has risen to become the third richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $142 billion as of the time of writing.
