Drake Teases New Album And Tour at Apollo Theatre Gig

Drake recently gave a career-spanning SiriusXM concert at the Apollo Theater in New York City, teasing a new album and tour. He brought out Dipset and 21 Savage as special guests.

Drizzy sang songs from all seven of his solo albums during the lengthy set. These included the tracks ‘Karaoke’ from ‘Thank Me Later’ and ‘Over My Dead Boy’ from ‘Take Care,’ both of which haven't been performed live since 2015. The 2010 Timbaland collaboration ‘Say Something,’ which was performed for the first time in more than a decade, was an even more unusual surprise.

There were also songs like ‘Marvin's Room,’ ‘Over,’ ‘HYFR (Hell Ya F***ing Right,’ ‘Started From the Bottom,’ ‘No New Friends,’ ‘Energy,’ ‘God's Plan,’ ‘Hold On We're Going Home,’ ‘In My Feelings,’ ‘One Dance’ and ‘Passionfruit’ on the line-up of more than 40 songs. With multiple set changes, the stage changed throughout the course of the evening from his childhood bedroom to a record label boardroom and a Harlem deli market.

Drake invited The Diplomats, a legendary New York hip-hop group, to perform during the evening's final quarter. Drake and Dipset – Cam’ron, Jim Jones, Freekey Zekey and Juelz Santana – performed ‘I Really Mean It’, ‘Dipset Anthem’ and ‘We Fly High (Ballin)’.

“These guys right here from Harlem made us dress different, talk different, walk different, rap different all the way in Canada,” Drake – draped in Cam’ron’s iconic pink mink coat said as the influential group left the stage.

Following that, 21 Savage, who worked with Drake on ‘Her Loss,’ performed two songs off their 2022 album. In addition to performing ‘Spin Bout You’ and ‘Privileged Rappers’ live for the first time, the duo also performed ‘Jimmy Cooks’ and ‘Knife Talk’ at the end of their set. For the first time since 2017, Drizzy performed the opening track from ‘If You're Reading This It's Too Late,’ ‘Legend,’ as his final song.

The fact that Drake teased a joint tour while performing onstage with 21 Savage was one of the evening's major takeaways.

“We’re gonna be out on the road this summer,” he told fans. Additionally, he hinted that a solo album would be coming in 2023.

“I’ve thought about a bunch of things in life, but at this moment in time none of those things are stopping making music for you, so I’ll be here for you for a little bit at least,” he said. “I hope I can strike up more emotions for you. Maybe this year – I might get bored and make another one. Who knows?”

Drake’s most recent solo album ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ arrived last year.
