Ed Sheeran Debuts Unreleased Song During Surprise Performance in New Orleans

In a surprise pop-up show in New Orleans, Ed Sheeran debuted a brand-new song for the first time, surprising fans.

 The 34-year-old Grammy winner pulled into the city's famed French Quarter, sporting blue pants and a tie-dyed t-shirt.  He set up a small amplifier and microphone in the daytime, and then The Soul Rebels brass band—who just shared the stage with Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl halftime show—joined him.

 Sheeran then played his brand-new tune, ‘Azizam’, live for the first time, surprising the unwary audience.

He informed the audience before the performance began that they were filming some material and asked them to participate in the procession through the streets as more songs were played.  Additionally, he stated that this performance will mark the live debut of his new song, which will be formally published in a few weeks.

 Later, when a throng gathered, the musician posted a video of the incident to Instagram, showing him rolling his amplifier down a small street.  He thanked everyone who came to watch in the caption of the photo.

 Sheeran's unexpected performance this week wasn't the only one.  He performed an impromptu set at Tootsie's in Nashville a few days prior, showcasing both his greatest songs and covers, such as Britney Spears' ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time’.

In early February, Sheeran also tried to perform on the street in Bengaluru, India, but the local government promptly dispersed the event.  He addressed the issue on Instagram Stories, assuring supporters that everything was alright and that they were authorized to perform there.

 After releasing ‘Autumn Variations’ in 2023, Sheeran is anticipated to release his eighth studio album, ‘Play’, later this year.
