Ed Sheeran Gives a NYC Subway Performance of ‘Eyes Closed’ With Mike Yung

When ‘America’s Got Talent’ alum Mike Yung put out a subway performance, he was joined by Ed Sheeran. In a viral clip on TikTok, the duo is seen singing ‘Eyes Closed’ in a New York subway after giving each other a warm hug. Yung tells Sheeran, “You’re the man.”

Sheeran smiles ear to ear the entire time in the video. ‘Eyes Closed’ served as the lead single to ‘- (Subtract)’, his upcoming album. This will be the last installment in his decade-long mathematical album era.

“This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out and you expect to just bump into them, and every thing just reminds you of them and things you did together,” the singer wrote about the song on Instagram. “You sorta have to take yourself out of reality sometimes to numb the pain of loss, but certain things just bring you right back into it.”

He also mentioned his late friend, Jamal Edwards who was a music entrepreneur. “Blue was Jamal’s colour, but now is all I feel. And I guess music helps heal, so I’m dancing with my eyes closed to try get through it,” Sheeran said.
