Ed Sheeran is back on social media after having been MIA for a while now! He posted a candid Instagram video to announce his return.
“Hi guys, so I realize I haven’t been that engaged in my social media or my fan base online over the last couple of years,” Sheeran confessed in the video. “And the things that have been posted on this account might have got a bit boring. And I’m sorry, it’s my fault.”
He then added, “Umm, the reason I’m making this video is, just being totally honest, I’ve had some turbulent thing’s been happening in my personal life, so I just didn’t really feel like being online and pretending to be something I’m not when I wasn’t feeling like that.”
He told his fans that “things are looking up” now, and he promised that now that he’s “back online” that “weird sh– is gonna start being posted” on his Instagram feed. Ed Sheeran is one of the high-profile artists who is not on Twitter, instead he branded his account on the app as “Ed Sheeran HQ”, and it is managed by his management team.
The singer came back on Instagram for a brief moment last year to celebrate the billion-stream mark for his song “Shivers” on Spotify. He also revealed that he was on the set of a yet-unnamed music video for the follow-up to ‘= (Equals) which will release sometime this year.
