Ed Sheeran, Nile Rodgers Among Others To Raise Funds For India’s COVID Relief

A virtual fundraising event will take place this Sunday(Aug 15) on Facebook which will see several Bollywood celebrities, as well as some of the biggest names from the West, unite in an initiative to help raise funds for COVID relief in India.

The event titled ‘We For India: Saving Lives ‘ is a three-hour program that will feature musical performances, stand-up comedy, physical challenges, games and so much more. Over 100 artists are set to attend this event including Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman, Ed Sheeran, Nile Rodgers, Jay Shetty, music group Sister Sledge among others.

This initiative is by the global enterprise ‘The World We Want’ and the proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards the various COVID relief missions in India which have been grappling with the effects of the pandemic.

“Music has the power to heal in times of struggle and adversity,” Rodgers said in a statement. “I’m very proud of my community because when the world is in trouble, musicians never fail to show up with their amazing songs to give us all hope for our future.”

The virtual event will be broadcast on Facebook at 7.30 pm ET (3 pm BST / 10 am EDT) this Sunday (August 15)
