Elizabeth Fraser Releases Her First New Original Song in 13 Years, ‘Golden Air’

Former Cocteau Twins vocalist Elizabeth Fraser has shared her first new song in 13 years with ‘Golden Air’.

It’s the first single from Fraser’s new Sun’s Signature project, which features her and her partner, Damon Reece of Spiritualized, Echo and the Bunnymen. Sun’s Signature’s upcoming self-titled EP, which will be released on 18th June via Partisan for Record Store Day, will include ‘Golden Air.’

Fraser’s distinctive vocals are emphasized by a lush backdrop of guitars and electronics, with a noticeable bassline and forceful drumming, which Fraser previously performed during a solo appearance at Meltdown Festival in 2012.

Last month, Fraser announced the release of the Sun’s Signature EP. Fans of Fraser will recognise ‘Golden Air’, as well as the rare 2000 single ‘Underwater’ and ‘Make Lovely The Day,’ which she also performed at Meltdown in 2012. Two tunes called ‘Bluedusk’ and ‘Apples’ will round off the EP.

Fraser’s most recent song was 2009’s ‘Moses,’ though she has worked with a variety of musicians since then. She collaborated with Oneohtrix Point Never on a latest version of his song “Tales From The Trash Stratum” last year. She collaborated with Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi in 2020, performing on his tune ‘Cannibal.’
