Elton John Addresses Fading Eyesight, Clarifies ‘Not as Bad as It Seems’
Elton John’s situation appears to be getting better!
The legendary 77-year-old musician co-presented the Best Original Score-Movie award with Brandi Carlile at the 2025 Golden Globes. John answered questions regarding his vision before announcing the ‘Challengers’ winners, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. He assured followers that his deteriorating vision wasn’t as bad as it might have appeared, despite claims to the contrary.
There had been a lot of conjecture regarding his vision, but John quickly stressed that it wasn’t as severe as many believed. He made lighthearted remarks about his co-presenter, referring to Carlile as “Rihanna,” which made the audience chuckle. Carlile then carried on with the talk, focusing on how the music in a movie produces an “emotional landscape” that engages the viewer. The two finished by declaring ‘Challengers’ the award’s victor.

John previously told Good Morning America that he had an eye illness while on vacation in the south of France in July 2024, which caused him to lose vision in his right eye. He characterized the ailment as a startling experience because it prevented him from seeing or reading clearly. Additionally, he disclosed that his left eye isn’t doing well, which makes it harder for him to enjoy TV and movies or read songs. John’s positive statement at the Golden Globes gave followers hope that he was doing well in spite of these difficulties.
