Charlie Puth proudly says he had the opportunity to collaborate with Elton John on the iconic artist’s ‘The Lockdown Sessions’, but had revealed that he faced criticism from the British pop veteran initially about his music before starting to work together.

During his appearance on ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ on 7th February, the ‘Attention’ singer discussed how he came to work with John and how the ‘Cold Heart’ singer felt about the quality of Puth’s previous works. “When Elton first indicated an interest in working with me, he texted me his address, which was fantastic.” Puth said, “He was completely honest with me. He said my 2019 music was terrible, and I agree. It was a disaster.”

He continued, “He basically stated I could make much better music and that I should simply make it myself, as I always do.” “I was like, ‘Wow, you’re the only person who’s ever said that to me,’ but when he said it, I was thinking the same thing.”

The criticism had no effect on Puth and John’s ability to collaborate on music. Puth was brought in to work on ‘After All’ from The Lockdown Sessions by the English singer. The album’s second single, ‘After All,’ was released and reached No. 10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The collection of collaboration songs has spent a total of 15 weeks on the chart, featuring Dua Lipa, Nicki Minaj, Miley Cyrus, and others.
