Emily Blunt Says Her Daughters Thought She Was 'The Meanest Person' in ‘Devil Wears Prada’ Role

Emily Blunt's portrayal of Emily Charlton in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ left a lasting impression on audiences, but for her daughters, Hazel and Violet, it wasn’t for the same reason. In an interview with Page Six, Blunt revealed that her daughters found her character to be “the meanest person they’ve ever met” after watching the iconic film.

Despite her daughters' reaction, Blunt shared that fans still regularly quote her character’s lines to her, showing how beloved the role is. She noted how special it was that the movie left an “indelible fingerprint on people,” especially since it was her first major film. She recalled being told by her agent about the film's successful opening weekend box office numbers, admitting she didn’t fully understand how big that success was at the time.

Reflecting on filming ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ alongside Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep, Blunt said they “had the time of our lives” during production. Fans of the movie can look forward to more, as reports suggest a sequel is in development, written by Aline Brosh McKenna and produced by Wendy Finerman. The story may follow Miranda Priestly navigating the digital era with ‘Runway’ Magazine. According to Entertainment Weekly, there are also discussions about Streep, Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci reprising their roles.

Blunt, speaking to People magazine, joked about the possibility of reliving the stomach flu scene from the first film and mentioned how excited she was to get some great eye makeup again in the sequel.
