With his Creative Arts Emmy win, Eminem is one step closer to earning the EGOT status. The rapper performed with Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Anderson.Paak at the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year; the group received three awards at the ceremony over the weekend.
These were Outstanding Production Design For A Variety Special, Outstanding Music Direction and Variety Special (live). In light of this, Eminem now holds an Emmy in addition to 15 Grammy Awards and an Oscar for Original Song for his track ‘Lose Yourself’ from the film, ‘8 Mile’. To finish the set, he would require a Tony, and be a part of a small number of people to win all four awards.
Adele received a Creative Arts Emmy for her ‘One Night Only’ special, also moving her one step closer to the EGOT.
Responding to her win, the singer said on Instagram: “B****y hell I’m pleased as punch! Thank you @mrbenwinston for dropping this round to me this afternoon!! Trust me to officially have an EGO [cry laughing emoji].
“Thank you so much @televisionacad , I’m so so honored to receive this. Big up to everyone involved. @griffithobservatory thank you for letting me sing up on your mountain and big love to all the other nominees x”.
Peter Jackson’s docuseries ‘The Beatles: Get Back’, received five awards and Lizzo’s ‘Watch Out For The Big Grrrls’ won two awards.
Meanwhile, at the MTV VMAs over the weekend, Eminem and Snoop Dogg performed a unique version of their recent song ‘From The D 2 The LBC’ that was ‘metaverse-inspired’.
