Eminem To Be Inducted Into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame

Following Eminem’s inclusion on the list of inductees for 2022, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame’s CEO compared his music to metal tunes.

Along with Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Dolly Parton, Judas Priest, Lionel Richie, Carly Simon and Pat Benatar, Eminem is one of eight artists due to be admitted into the institution later this year.

CEO Greg Harris discussed the rapper’s inclusion in the class of 2022 and hip- hop’s role in the Rock Hall in a recent interview with Audacy. He remarked that people have asked about hip-hop for a long time. He’s the tenth artist to fall into that category.

However, if you listen to his music, it’s just as hard-hitting and direct as any metal song. It’s just beside you. It’s a powerful blow with a message. He’s going in his first year of eligibility; it’s a significant message.

Kate Bush, Beck, DEVO, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine and Dionne Warwick were among the performers who made it to the first shortlist for 2022 but didn’t make the final cut. Over 1,000 musicians, historians and music industry professionals voted on the artists.

The class of 2022 will be admitted during an in-person ceremony on 5th November at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Parton first turned down the honour, stating she didn’t feel she had “earned the right” to be inducted, and the build-up to the announcement was fraught with turmoil. After understanding that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame isn’t just for rock musicians, she subsequently declared she would accept the induction if she received the votes.

Jay-Z, Carole King, Tina Turner, The Go-Gos, Foo Fighters, Todd Rundgren and others were among those inducted into the institution last year.
