Eminem to Debut ‘The Death of Slim Shady’ at 2024 MTV VMAs Opening Performance

MTV has announced that rap legend Eminem will debut material from his latest album, ‘The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)’, with a highly anticipated opening performance at the upcoming Video Music Awards. This marks the first time songs from the album will be performed on television.

Eminem, also known as Marshall Mathers, is up for eight nominations at this year’s VMAs. These include video of the year, best hip-hop, best direction, best editing, best visual effects, and song of the summer for his track ‘Houdini’. He’s also in the running for artist of the year and the award for most iconic performance, recognising his unforgettable mash-up of ‘The Real Slim Shady’ and ‘The Way I Am’ from a past VMAs ceremony.

In addition to Eminem’s performance, the VMAs will feature exciting acts from a range of artists. Teddy Swims and Jessie Murph are set to perform on the Extended Play stage, while Le Sserafim will entertain the audience during the pre-show.

Taylor Swift leads the nominations with an impressive 12, closely followed by Post Malone with 11 and Eminem with eight. Other notable artists, such as Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, and Sabrina Carpenter, have received seven nominations each.

Pop sensation Katy Perry will be honoured with the prestigious video vanguard award, and she is expected to perform a medley of her biggest hits, along with possible new material from her upcoming album ‘143’.

The event will also see Megan Thee Stallion take on hosting duties, adding to her nominations and performances at this year’s ceremony. Fans are eagerly anticipating a night filled with unforgettable performances and moments.
