Eminem reportedly turned down $8million to perform at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. 50 Cent recently confirmed this. The FIFA World Cup received widespread criticism ever since it kicked off in November. This happened after many migrant workers died in the creation of stadiums and the country's views on homosexuality. 50 Cent claimed that the duo were asked to perform a duet in the tournament but they refused.
“Because of the Super Bowl, I got an inquiry about the World Cup and they had a budget of $9million,” 50 Cent stated. “I would’ve taken one and then the other eight would have been for him.”
50 Cent was a surprise guest at the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which was headlined by Eminem, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige.
After speaking to Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg, 50 Cent learnt that the rapper wasn’t interested. “They’re like, he’s not gonna do it,” he continued. “If you would do a one-off show, maybe you would do the biggest live sporting event in the world.”
Previously, Dua Lipa denied rumours that suggested that she would perform at the opening ceremony. Rod Stewart also has reportedly denied the opportunity for moral reasons. Apart from this, 50 Cent has also revealed plans to create a “modern” version of Eminem’s semi-autobiographical film '8 Mile'. “It’s going to be big. I ain’t got no duds,” he said.
