Mika has been named as one of the three hosts for the Eurovision Song Contest this year. The Grand Final of the 2022 competition is being held on May 14 at the PalaOlimpico in Turin, Italy. The “We Are Golden” singer took to Instagram saying “It is an honorable opportunity to host the show. I’ve been watching it since I was a kid, the whole family would get together for the Grand Final.”
The Grace Kelly hitmaker went on to explain that he `believes in the importance of an international community and claimed that Eurovision allows us to ‘celebrate our similarities as much as our differences’.
The hosts of this year’s Eurovision have been confirmed by Rai. Joining Mika are Laura Pausini, a well-known Italian singer, and TV personality Alessandro Cattelan on the stage. The three will host Eurovision 2022’s two semi-finals (on May 10 and 12) as well as the Grand Final.
The Italian band Maneskin, who recently made their Saturday Night Live debut, won Eurovision last year. In October, Dua Lipa’s management helped select a UK entry for this year’s Eurovision, after UK 2021 participant James Newman failed to score a single point on his song “Embers.”
