Everything You Need to Know so Far About SZA’s Upcoming Album ‘Lana’

SZA’s upcoming album, initially envisioned as a deluxe edition of her multi-Grammy-nominated second full-length ‘SOS,’ has been in a constant state of uncertainty since its inception and may now stand as a separate release.

However, it seems to have taken a significant stride towards completion as the singer shared a series of photos, presumably serving as cover artwork for the release. Each image prominently features the familiar ‘Parental Advisory: Explicit Content’ sticker. A deluxe edition is almost customary for highly successful albums, and SZA has been discussing the possibility of one for ‘SOS’ since the album’s release last December.

During a complimentary concert at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, she declared the album’s existence, stating, “The deluxe is a completely different album. It’s called ‘Lana.’ It consists of seven to ten songs and will be released this fall.” Along with tracks from ‘SOS’ and her debut full-length ‘Ctrl,’ she performed three unreleased songs at the concert .

She spoke extensively about ‘Lana,’ offering insights, although not necessarily conclusive ones.

“I never get these things done until like the day before the deadline,” she grinned. “It became more than I thought. It was gonna be something really soft because I had made all my screaming points on ‘SOS’, and I just wanted to glide and not think too much, and just get out of my own head. I was so happy to say something that didn’t mean anything. But now it’s definitely turning it into its own album. I guess I could drop another album randomly, because no one’s actually expecting that from me right now”.
