Exciting November Updates for ‘National Treasure’ Fans
This November, fans of the ‘National Treasure’ series have a lot to look forward to as both movies will be available on Hulu beginning on 1st November. Both the 2004 original ‘National Treasure’ and the 2007 follow-up ‘National Treasure: Book of Secrets’ chronicle the exploits of Nicolas Cage’s character, Benjamin Franklin Gates, who is co-starred with Diane Kruger and Justin Bartha.
Together, they solve ancient puzzles, unearth buried hints, and strive to keep priceless historical relics out of the wrong hands.

In the first movie, Gates has to figure out a code on the back of the Declaration of Independence quickly to prevent mercenaries from stealing it. Gates travels from Paris to Mount Rushmore in ‘Book of Secrets’ in order to solve another enigma and cleanse his family’s name. Due to their ability to combine exciting action and adventure with American history, both films have achieved cult status since their premiere.
Even Nicolas Cage has expressed doubt that a third film will ever be made, yet there has been some recent movement. The franchise’s screenwriter, Ted Elliot, said on the ‘National Treasure Hunt’ podcast in August that a first draft of the third movie’s script was finished. Noting how much Riley has changed between the two movies—from an “uninformed audience member” in the first to someone with an extensive understanding of cryptohistory by the second—he also alluded to Riley’s (Justin Bartha’s character) significant role.
