Exciting Update on Jason Statham’s ‘The Beekeeper’ Sequel

Fans of ‘The Beekeeper’ may now rejoice after months of conjecture, as indications indicate that a follow-up to Jason Statham’s 2023 action thriller is formally in the works. The Cinemaholic reports that MGM and Miramax are supporting ‘The Beekeeper 2’, which is scheduled to start principal photography in Los Angeles in January 2025. David Ayer will return as director, and Statham will play Adam Clay once more. The action may now include the famous urban vistas and neon lights of Los Angeles, as suggested by the decision to move production from the United Kingdom to Los Angeles.

In the first film, Statham plays former intelligence officer Adam Clay, who discovers a worldwide phishing scheme connected to powerful people, including the president of the United States. Fans were ablaze with unanswered questions following Clay’s spectacular escape, particularly in relation to the mysterious Beekeepers, a covert group tasked with eliminating corruption.

Statham isn’t the only beloved character making a comeback; Josh Hutcherson, who just starred in ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’ (2023), adds a new level of intensity, and Jeremy Irons, the iconic actor, adds his usual gravitas to the turmoil. Taylor James, David Witts, Michael Epp, Minnie Driver, and Bobby Naderi are also part of the cast. Nate Richard of Collider gave it a stellar review, describing it as “one of the wildest mainstream action movies in a while” and praising Statham and Ayer for providing an exciting, action-packed experience.

For additional Statham-Ayer work, the two are collaborating on ‘Levon’s Trade’, a 2025 action thriller that reunites Statham with screenwriter Sylvester Stallone from ‘Expendables’. Statham plays a retired Black Ops operative who is called upon to assist a friend who has vanished for no apparent reason.
