EXO-SC’s Chanyeol and Sehun Release Album: “1 Billion Views”

EXO-SC release their first album

K-Pop duo, and subunit of the group EXO, ‘EXO-SC’ have released their first ever full-length album. The unit which is made up of members Chanyeol and Sehun released the 9 track project, “1 Billion Views”, earlier today.

“1 Billion Views” is EXO-SC’s follow up to the duo’s 2019 release – a 6 track mini album called “What a life”. This full-length album includes the single, ‘Telephone’ featuring ’10 cm’, and the pair’s own solos- ‘Nothin” and ‘On Me’.

EXO-SC’s Soundscape

Led by mellow acoustic grooves and familiar R&B hooks, “1 Billion Views” is a cohesive collection of slick, synth-pop songs. Turning away from some of their high energy music as a part of EXO, the subunit allows Chanyeol and Sehun to dabble in a different range of sounds. While Chanyeol’s love for acoustic and R&B grooves is prominent in this album, Sehun gives us a look at fresh vocalisation and singing styles. Ranging from slow raps and sultry vocals to upbeat pop verses, the duo compliment each other.

Featuring popular solo artists in Korean music – Gaeko, 10 cm, MOON and PENOMECO, “1 Billion Views” explores young love, and details heartbreak. Surprisingly, Chanyeol and Sehun stand out the most on their solo endeavours. ‘Nothin” and ‘On Me’ offer varied sounds, divergent from the otherwise upbeat collection of tracks on the album. Complete with well curated hooks and a familiar soundscape, the 9 tracks are different bites of the same dish.

“1 Billion Views” continues to trend worldwide with 850,000 tweets and counting. The lead track of the same name debuted at No. 10 and No. 15 on the Bugs and Genie music charts, respectively. Sales of the album have also exceeded 180,000 copies sold since the time of release.
