David Harbour and Florence Pugh have provided an intriguing update regarding their roles in ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’  Both actors have not yet read the script, even though their participation in the movie was confirmed during Marvel Studios' recent announcement.  The question of whether their characters would survive ‘Thunderbolts’ was answered by their presence in the movie.

The two were questioned about what they might disclose about their parts in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, specifically about competing against Robert Downey Jr., during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight for ‘Thunderbolts’.  Harbour joked that the script was "so good" before laughing and admitting he hadn't read it either, after Pugh acknowledged she had nothing to tease because she hadn't read it.

Marvel Studios has a reputation for keeping big projects under wraps, and a movie this size calls for even more secrecy.  More cast members are anticipated to be revealed in the upcoming months when production in London, where ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ will also start filming this summer, begins.  There may be more surprises to come, as a number of Fox-era original ‘X-Men’ stars, such as James Marsden, Ian McKellen, and Patrick Stewart, have already been announced.

Before Pugh and Harbour appear in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, they will first return as Yelena Belova and Red Guardian in ‘Thunderbolts’, joining Wyatt Russell as John Walker, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, and Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost.  With all ‘Thunderbolts’ cast members slated to feature in ‘Doomsday’, it seems the next film may not be as lethal as some fans initially feared.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ will be released on 1st May, 2026, while ‘Thunderbolts’ will be released on 2nd May.
