Forbes lists Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Ye as Billionaires for the First Time

Rihanna, Jay-Z, and Ye have all joined Forbes’ billionaire list for the first time. As per the annual list, Rihanna is now the richest female singer in the world, with a net worth of $1.7 billion (£1.3 bn), owing to her Fenty Beauty business and Savage X Fenty lingerie line.

She is ranked 1,729th among the world’s richest billionaires, with Jay-Z at 2,076th with a net worth of $1.4 billion (£1.1 bn) and Ye at 1,513th. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is at the top of the list, with a net worth of $219 billion (£167 bn).

Second, at $171 billion (£130 bn), Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is worth almost $50 billion (£38 bn) less than Musk. There were 2,668 billionaires on the final list, down from 2,755 last year, and their combined wealth dropped from $13.1 trillion (£10 tn) to $12.7 trillion (£9.7 tn).

Forbes published a report last year saying that Ye is only worth a third of what he claimed. Ye’s Yeezy deal with Gap was set at $970 million (£697 million) in March 2021, reportedly raising the rapper’s net worth to $6.6 billion (£4.7 billion). It comes after Ye was determined to be the world’s second-richest rapper, after only Jay-Z. After Forbes stated that West was worth $1 billion in April, West refuted the claim, claiming that his net worth was $3.3 billion (£2.6 billion).

Following reports that West’s net worth was above $6 billion, Forbes published an article debunking the claim. It all starts with: “Reports that the celebrity is worth nearly $7 billion are based on the magical thinking around sales that don’t yet exist. This is why he’s currently worth less than one third of that.”

Forbes responds to assertions that Ye is now America’s richest Black person, saying the reports are “not true, based on our calculations.” In April 2020, Kanye joined Jay-Z as the second billionaire in hip-hop.
