Franz Ferdinand have revealed that their latest single, ‘Audacious,’ is set to drop later this week. The Scottish rockers teased the new track on their social media, posting a video featuring keyboardist and synthesizer player Miaoux Miaoux, a.k.a. Julian Victor Corrie, caught off guard by something that completely captures his attention.

‘Audacious’ will be released on 11th September. In addition to the single, the indie legends are also expected to announce a new album soon.

Earlier this year, Franz Ferdinand marked the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut album. Originally released on 9th February, 2004, the LP peaked at Number Three on the charts and featured iconic tracks like ‘Take Me Out’, ‘Michael’, ‘The Dark of The Matinee’, and ‘This Fire’. It went on to win the Mercury Music Prize and solidified its status as an indie classic.

To commemorate the two-decade milestone, the band reissued the album on coloured vinyl. In 2022, they dropped ‘Hits To The Head,’ a compilation of singles and fan favourites from their five albums, along with the new track ‘Curious’.

In 2021, the band announced the departure of drummer Paul Thomson. The following year, Audrey Tait joined as his replacement, with Kapranos praising her as “incredible.”

Kapranos said that Paul Thomson is his closest friend, and while it was heartbreaking to realize they wouldn’t be making music together anymore, his happiness and well-being were more important, making the decision the right one.

In other news, the ‘Take Me Out’ hitmakers have recently unveiled plans for a trio of live performances in Scotland later this month.

The mini-tour begins on 26th September at the Spa Pavilion in Strathpeffer, followed by a show the next night at the Albert Halls in Stirling. They’ll conclude the run with a final performance at The Venue in Dumfries on 28th September.
