Gal Gadot Responds to ‘Snow White’ Backlash

Gal Gadot has decided to keep her political opinions to herself.

Ahead of the premiere of her live-action ‘Snow White’ movie, Gadot recently told Variety that she stays away from talking politics, particularly in the wake of the 2023 terrorist assault on Israel.  She clarified that rather than commenting on politics, her goal as an artist is to amuse people, inspire optimism, and be a constructive influence.

Her comments coincide with the controversy surrounding Disney's ‘Snow White’ remake, which has brought attention to both the movie and its actors, Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gadot as the Evil Queen.

According to a person familiar with the matter, Zegler, who is 23 years old, and Gadot, a mother of four, don't have much in common. They have different political views and personal lives.  Gadot, a former member of the Israel Defense Forces, has advocated for the liberation of Israeli hostages, while Zegler has shown support for Palestinians.

Notwithstanding reports of conflict, the two actresses have appeared together to promote the movie at events including Disney's D23 Expo in 2022 and the most recent Academy Awards, when they shared the stage.  According to insiders, Gadot was managing the press in New York City and was never supposed to attend the European premiere in Spain.  She did show up to the premiere of the movie in Los Angeles.

Gadot discussed why political issues are so personal to her in her interview with Variety.  She said that she is the granddaughter of a Holocaust survivor who lost his entire family in Auschwitz and rebuilt his life in Israel.  She considers herself an indigenous person of Israel and comes from an eighth-generation Israeli family.

Gadot said she hoped for a better future where everyone could live in safety, prosperity, and peace while raising their kids.
