Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen Returns in New ‘Snow White’ Deleted Scene

There is yet more to Gal Gadot’s role as the Evil Queen in Disney’s live-action ‘Snow White’.  In a recently revealed deleted sequence that is only available for the film’s home digital version, fans of the actress and the legendary villain can now see even more of her delectably sinister portrayal.

Viewers are transported to a crucial point in the rewritten fairytale in this never-before-seen footage.  After Snow’s mother passed away, young Snow White and her father, the King, are shown standing gravely by a well, their hearts heavy with sorrow.  However, a startling contrast arises when the narrator establishes the mood of loss—one character perceives opportunity rather than sadness.

The video then shifts to the pre-coronation time of Gal Gadot’s Evil Queen.  “Magic Mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?” the Evil Queen asks, summoning her Magic Mirror with all the impersonal grace for which she has come to be known.  It’s a subtly ominous scene that highlights the Queen’s decline into infatuation and jealousy.

Gal Gadot and ‘Snow White’ enthusiasts will recognise her signature style even in this tiny scene—equal parts elegant and scary. In Marc Webb’s live-action adaptation of the popular 1937 cartoon classic, Rachel Zegler plays the lead role of Snow White.

The home version includes a number of new extras, including the deleted scene, which is called “Anguish and Opportunity.”  In addition to sing-along versions, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and blooper reels, other supplements like “Danger in the Woods” and “Hunt for Snow White” offer even more depth to the narrative.

In the past, Gal Gadot has talked about how much she enjoyed playing the Evil Queen.  In order to prevent her villainy from becoming flat, she sought to give the character nuance.  Gal Gadot sees the Queen as a complicated character whose harshness is not motivated by pure malice but rather by insecurity and waning significance.  She and Snow White have a twisted, almost parental tension that gives their antagonism more emotional depth.

In addition to her metamorphosis, Gal Gadot used the opportunity to experiment with a new aspect of acting, using her voice to completely capture the Queen’s wickedness on stage.  She found the creative process to be liberating and enjoyable.

Fans of Gal Gadot’s ‘Snow White’ will have much more to enjoy when the movie launches on digital platforms on 13th May —from eerie looks in mirror-lit rooms to poignant scenes that were never seen on the big screen.  You haven’t seen all of Gadot’s Evil Queen yet; her most sinister spell is still beginning.
