Get Ready for More Paddington Adventures: Marmalade Sandwiches Are Coming
‘Paddington in Peru’ is set to hit theatres in just a few months, but fans of the lovable bear can look forward to even more Paddington adventures beyond that. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a fourth Paddington film is currently in development, along with a new television series featuring the character who has delighted audiences for a decade. StudioCanal has enjoyed significant success with the franchise and has plans for Paddington’s next chapter.
To help introduce Paddington to younger audiences, the studio is launching social media pages dedicated to the character and creating the Paddington Bear Experience in London. These immersive initiatives aim to raise awareness about the friendly bear. Additionally, StudioCanal is implementing a robust marketing campaign leading up to the release of ‘Paddington in Peru’, which is eagerly anticipated to arrive in U.S. theatres in January 2025.

The first two films, Paddington’ and ‘Paddington 2’, brought this iconic character, created by Michael Bond, to life. Directed by Paul King, the original film introduced us to Henry (Hugh Bonneville) and Mary Brown (Sally Hawkins), the kind couple who welcomed Paddington after he got lost in the city. Their bond has deepened over the course of the series as Paddington seeks to uncover more about his past.
In ‘Paddington in Peru’, the bear ventures outside his usual surroundings when his beloved Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton) goes missing, prompting him to uncover the mystery of her disappearance. The journey to Peru is fraught with challenges, featuring new characters like The Reverend Mother (Olivia Colman) and Hunter Cabot (Antonio Banderas), which will add complexity to Paddington’s quest.

Although Paul King, who still has a fondness for Paddington, is unable to direct this instalment due to his work on ‘Wonka’, Dougal Wilson has been brought on board to helm ‘Paddington in Peru’, setting the stage for an exciting adventure. The upcoming sequel marks just the beginning, with a fourth movie and a television series already confirmed, making it intriguing to see how the story evolves after ‘Paddington in Peru’.
‘Paddington in Peru’ will debut in U.S. theatres on January 2025.
