Green Day Debuts New Track ‘1981’
Green Day debuted a new song called ‘1981’ during their killer set at the festival d’été de Québec in Canada!
The track follows their departure from Reprise Records after their contract expired. Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Durnt and Tré Cool are rocking the world with this fresh tune!
Die-hard fans totally caught on that this song was teased in one of Armstrong’s sick 1972 teasers from way back in 2022. The hype has been building for three long years, and now the wait is over – Green Day is back in action with awesome new music!
Back in December 2021, Green Day dropped a rad clip of themselves jamming at London’s RAK Studios, hinting at some fresh music in the works. The video had everyone buzzing as the numbers ‘1972’ flashed on the screen, sparking wild speculation about a potential new banger or even a whole new album!
And just a month later, they hit us with another teaser that had us stoked! Billie Joe Armstrong rocking an acoustic riff while black and white archive footage played in reverse. And yep, you guessed it – the enigmatic ‘1972’ digits popped up again, sending fans into a frenzy of anticipation! Green Day knows how to keep us on the edge of our seats!
Green Day kept the hype train rolling with yet another mind-blowing video! This time, all three rockstars got together to vibe on a melody and rehearse an epic track, channelling those sweet ‘The Static Age’ vibes from their killer 2009 album ’21st Century Breakdown.’ As the music played in the background, Dirnt grabbed a can and sprayed ‘1972’ on a wall like a street art pro, and then, just to add more mystery, he hit the camera lens with a splash of the number 3.
Later, Green Day officially confirmed that fresh tunes are in the works. They spilled the beans in a TikTok video captioned “recording our [new] record in London & LA” while juggling their highly anticipated UK and European leg of the Hella Mega Tour, rocking out with Fall Out Boy and Weezer! The excitement is off the charts – Green Day is about to hit us with an explosion of new music goodness!
