Gwyneth Paltrow Questions Accuracy of Her 2024 Spotify Wrapped Playlist

Earlier this month, Spotify Wrapped’s 2024 edition launched, enabling users to consider their listening preferences over the previous 12 months. But Gwyneth Paltrow was unhappy with her playlist, saying it wasn’t accurate, in a Q&A session with her lifestyle business Goop.

Paltrow clarified that although she only performed João Gilberto’s song a few times at dinner parties, it was enough to make him her number-one artist. In this sense, she characterized the data as “not accurate”.

This follows past incidents where Spotify’s statistics raised concerns. There were worries earlier in the year when it appeared that Spotify’s autoplay feature was favouring Sabrina Carpenter’s music disproportionately. Josh Gottheimer, a politician from New Jersey, was also caught promoting Bruce Springsteen by sharing a phoney Spotify Wrapped.

Some individuals claimed that the politician’s Wrapped was manipulated after noticing irregularities such as a different typeface and strange spacing. Later, Gottheimer acknowledged that he had changed the results to omit his kids’ musical preferences.

The top indie bands in the UK were dominated by Arctic Monkeys, Oasis, The Smiths, Radiohead, and Gorillaz, according to Spotify Wrapped 2024 overall. Taylor Swift took the top spot on the UK and international charts. Other well-known performers included Drake, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, The Weeknd, and Bad Bunny, all of whom were ranked among the best in the world. Additionally, during Wrapped 2024, musicians like Carpenter, Usher, and Eilish sent video messages to their fans thanking them for their support.
