Gwyneth Paltrow Says Her Kids Understand Their Parents' Fame but Stay Down-to-Earth

Despite being well aware of their parents' celebrity, Gwyneth Paltrow's kids are able to maintain their composure.

The 52-year-old actress discussed her two children, Apple, 20, and Moses, 18, whom she shares with Coldplay's ex-husband Chris Martin, in an interview with Vanity Fair for their April cover story. She also discussed how the kids have adapted to college life.  She clarified that college levels the playing field, and although her children are aware that they are the offspring of two well-known individuals, they have been raised with this awareness.  In spite of this, Paltrow said that Moses and Apple are both surprisingly modest and grounded.

She also talked candidly about getting ready for Moses to leave for college in an interview with The Sunday Times last year.  She considered how her daily rituals at home might change as she and her husband, Brad Falchuk, prepared to watch their boys leave for college.  She acknowledged that the idea of an empty house made her feel a mixture of regret and despair, but she also recognised that this is how things should be.  She underlined that raising kids to be strong, self-sufficient young adults who can connect with people and navigate the world on their own is a big aspect of parenting.

Becoming a mother is one of the most significant and rewarding aspects of Paltrow's life.  She talked about how this job has shaped her and how she's attempting to remain receptive to the new stage of life in which her kids will no longer live together full-time but will still visit frequently.
