Halle Berry Faces Unspeakable Evil in New ‘Never Let Go’ Trailer

Lionsgate is reintroducing Halle Berry to the horror genre this fall with the chilling supernatural film ‘Never Let Go’. Initially announced as ‘Mother Land’, this film marks a rare return to the genre for the Oscar winner, whose previous horror credits include ‘Gothika’ and ‘Dark Tide’. In ‘Never Let Go’, Berry stars as a mother of fraternal twin sons who battles a malevolent spirit that torments their family for years. The newly released trailer reveals the increasing strain on the family’s bond and the growing menace of the supernatural force, creating an atmosphere where even Berry’s character’s ability to protect her children is called into question.

In the film, Berry’s character and her family have managed to ward off the spirit through their close-knit bond, living a rugged, off-the-grid life in a post-apocalyptic setting. They use a literal rope to keep them physically connected and to maintain their home’s safety.

Berry enforces strict rules and a crucial mantra to prevent any one of them from being lost to the evil that lurks outside. The situation becomes dire when one of her sons begins to question the reality of the evil, leading to a severed connection and increased peril. The trailer suggests that the surrounding woods harbour unspeakable horrors that prey on any wavering belief in the threat.

Directed by the prolific Alexandre Aja, known for ‘The Hills Have Eyes’, ‘Piranha 3D’, and ‘High Tension’, ‘Never Let Go’ is scripted by Kevin Coughlin and Ryan Grassby, with ‘Stranger Things’ producers Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, and Dan Levine involved through their 21 Laps Entertainment banner. The cast includes Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins as Berry’s sons.

At CinemaCon, Berry spoke about the film’s focus on motherhood, emphasizing how her real-life experience as a mother deepened her connection to the role. She described the film’s environment as both eerie and challenging, reflecting the intense lengths a mother would go to protect her children.

‘Never Let Go’ is set to hit theatres on 20th September.
