Halle Berry Shares Story of Prince Asking Her on a Date With a ‘Piece of Paper’ at His Concert

Halle Berry reminisced about a memorable encounter with Prince during one of his concerts. The 58-year-old actress appeared on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ where she recounted how the late ‘Purple Rain’ icon once asked her out on a date.

During the interview, host Jimmy Kimmel asked Berry if it was true that Michael Jackson had asked Babyface to invite her on a date. After a brief pause, she replied, “I don’t know. But I do know that Prince asked me out.”

Berry described how Prince extended his invitation “sort of” in person. “I was at one of his concerts at the Key Club on Sunset,” she explained. “He had someone come out with a piece of paper, like when kids ask, ‘Do you like me? Yes or no.’ I said yes! I mean, I was at his concert, right? So, yes! Then he sent the paper back again asking, ‘Would you go out with me?'”

However, Berry didn’t return the paper. “No, I didn’t send it back. I kept the paper,” she added. Prince passed away in 2016 at the age of 57. In 2011, he presented an award to Berry at the NAACP Image Awards.

While accepting the award, she expressed her admiration for him, saying, “As if winning an Image Award wasn’t amazing enough, to have it handed to me by Prince is incredible. I’ve loved him my whole life, so thank you, Prince, for honouring me tonight.”

Berry also shared in a 2017 interview with Andscape that Prince was her first concert experience. “My first concert was Prince. His music profoundly influenced my childhood and teenage years,” she reflected. “I was a huge fan and became friends with him during his lifetime.”

Currently, Berry is dating musician Van Hunt, whom she met through his brother. In a recent Marie Claire interview, she described their relationship as life-changing, saying, “It was the first time I was madly in love before I had s*x. That has never happened to me. It was just magical.”

Having been married three times before, Berry expressed her belief that Hunt, 54, is the right person for her, stating, “It took me a minute to get it right, but I truly believe this is it. This is my person.”
