Happy Birthday “V”

BTS, has truly made their mark on the music industry. Last year, they played their first U.S. stadium show, which was completely sold out, as all their stadium shows have been since then.

This year, they became the first K-pop group to present an award at the Grammys, announcing H.E.R. as winner of Best R&B album. A couple months later, their most recent EP, Map of the Soul: Persona, topped charts in multiple countries, and the bouncy lead single — “Boy With Luv,” featuring Halsey — has earned more than 500 million streams. The band has not shied away from collabs with other western artists too, like Lil Nas X and Lauv. BTS has shown no signs of slowing down and perhaps at the 2020 Grammys, we’ll see them perform, or even better, bag an award!

But before we move into 2020, today we celebrate the birthday of one of their youngest members, V, a.k.a Kim Taehyung! Taehyung’s always been quite the fashionista and his love for art, clearly reflects in his choice of clothes and designs. From cutting random holes and trimming the hem of his own clothes, to spray painting his jackets and collecting the best designer wear – V’s style has evolved a lot over the years. And that’s why, we’re going to do a rundown of his best music video looks!

Fire

‘Fire’ is that one tune that drags you out onto the dance floor, even if you have two left feet. In this video, Taehyung’s dressed in a simple coffee-coloured coat, black jeans and a printed shirt. But perhaps what truly makes him stand out (apart from that printed shirt) is his faded red hair. I mean, it fits perfectly with a song called, Fire, but it also manages to make him look even more playful.

Not Today

Their track, ‘Not Today’ can proudly stand as the perfect anthem for a rebellion. Between barren cliff sides and dark basements, the boys bring out the colour in this video through their funky outfits and V is no exception. The bandana trend was practically born in this video, I mean, who would’ve thought he’d carry it off so well(though honestly, does he ever look bad? Nope). So, we’ve got that printed bandana, the white bomber jacket and let’s not forget the thin scarf tied around his wait. Yup, we notice every detail. It’s quite a cocktail of items but hey, if he’s pulling it off that well, who are we to say anything?

Blood, Sweat and Tears

Alright, how could we not talk about ‘Blood, Sweat and Tears’? I mean, this fantastic number brought them to the world’s stage, garnering a lot of global attention. Considering the production value, choreography and the music itself, it’s not surprising that the song did so well. Perhaps what makes this video even more mind-blowing is the fact that Taehyung went blonde for the very first time! Between a black sparkly jacket and a blue/white striped bathrobe, V looked absolutely stunning, and honestly, downright ethereal. Which kind of fits in with the whole theme behind the song, don’t you think?

DNA:

This 2017 hit saw V leading the visual department as he surprised fans with an elegant and sultry grey theme in terms of style. His hair was coloured silver and his contacts – grey. Kept long and styled with subtle beach waves, along with his multitude of luxurious, satin shirts, the look was a 10/10, leaving fans in awe every single time.

IDOL:

This 2018 hit dawned a colourful, quirky and mismatched V (in every sense of the word). His hair was two different colours – half pink and half yellow. If there’s anyone that can pull off this mismatch, it’s him. Clad with glasses and bold printed shirts, he wowed with his expressions and carefree attitude. The look will go down in history as one that gives us mixed feelings, but hey, it got a reaction out of us, and that’s a success!
