‘Harry Potter’ Star Bonnie Wright Shares Special Request for Ginny Weasley in HBO’s Upcoming TV Adaptation
HBO is reviving the beloved ‘Harry Potter’ series as a TV adaptation, and fans are eagerly awaiting its release. Bonnie Wright, who portrayed Ginny Weasley in the original films, has a special request for the new show. She hopes the series will include more scenes from J.K. Rowling’s novels that were left out of the movies. Wright, who played Harry’s love interest, is excited about the TV adaptation and shared her thoughts at the Back to Hogwarts event.
In an interview with Variety, Wright expressed her desire to see more focus on the development of Ginny and Harry’s relationship. She explained, “There are so many moments where their love story begins to unfold. I’d love to see more of Ginny’s character growth as she becomes a loyal partner to Harry, truly understanding his journey and being the best support for him.”

Wright also mentioned that she would like to see the evolution of other characters and storylines that were prominent in the books but not fully explored in the films. She specifically highlighted her interest in seeing more of characters like Neville and Luna. As a fan of the books, she hopes the series will bring these beloved aspects to life.
Reflecting on her experience filming the original series, Wright noted that the absence of social media at the time allowed the cast to work without the intense public scrutiny that today’s actors face. She advised the new cast to stay focused and calm despite the high expectations surrounding the adaptation.
