‘Hunger Games’ Prequel ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ Reveals Breathtaking First Look

Fans of ‘The Hunger Games’ will be happy to hear that new information about the much-awaited prequel movie has been made public.
Lionsgate unveiled the first teaser images for ‘The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping’ at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on 1st April. The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters in November 2026. The movie examines a crucial period in the history of the ‘Hunger Games’ and adapts Suzanne Collins’ most recent best-selling book. The stakes are hinted at by a phrase the studio posted on Instagram: There are 48 tributes. One winner.
Billy Ray, who penned the screenplay for the first ‘Hunger Games’ film in 2012, which starred Jennifer Lawrence, is coming back to write it. The filmmaker of the first four ‘Hunger Games’ movies, Francis Lawrence, is returning to direct this one as well.

The narrative spans the time period between ‘The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes’ and ‘The Hunger Games’ trilogy, taking place during the Capitol’s Second Quarter Quell. After the 2023 adaptation of ‘Songbirds and Snakes’, starring Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth, ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ is the sixth movie in the series.
The film adaptation was already announced by Lionsgate prior to the publication of Collins’ book. The company posted a social media confirmation of the release date last June. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chair Adam Fogelson commended Collins as a brilliant storyteller and highlighted her creative impact on the series.
‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ looks to be another exciting installment in the ‘Hunger Games’ trilogy, with the return of well-known directors and an intriguing new plot.
