Idina Menzel Leaves The Oscars Frozen Too

On the list of stunning performances at the Oscars was Idina Menzel’s gorgeous piece, ‘Into the Unknown’ which features in the animated film, ‘Frozen 2’.

This track also found its place with the string of nominees for the Best Original Song category. While Menzel didn’t bag an Oscar for this number, that didn’t stop her from delivering a breathtaking performance, standing in a sparkling white ball gown, against a backdrop of air, earth, wind and fire jewels from the film.

Menzel was accompanied by nine other women from around the world who provided Elsa’s singing voice when the song was dubbed in other languages. This included the voices of Elsa from places like Denmark, Germany, Japan, Latin America. Norway, Poland, Russia, Spain and Thailand.

Thankfully, the performance finished without a single hiccup, unlike in 2014, when John Travolta made the terrible mistake of pronouncing Menzel’s name incorrectly before the singer took the stage to accept the award for her smash hit, ‘Let It Go’. Yup, we don’t blame you for cringing. Though, it looks like she did let it go, as when Travolta and her presented the award for Best Original Song together, the following year, she introduced him as “Glom Gazingo,” all in good spirit of course!

Speaking about the whole experience, this year, Menzel confessed “It is hard to put it into words. It is something that I feel a lot of pride about. I feel a tremendous responsibility to sort of—to relate to all of the young girls and boys who are singing the music and maybe taking the message in about their own self-esteem and empowerment. Tonight we are celebrating the global impact of the song.”

This will definitely go down as an unforgettable performance, and hopefully, we can also watch Menzel bag an Oscar next year!
