‘Inside Out 2’ Digital Release Date Announced For Disney+

Pixar has announced that ‘Inside Out 2’ will premiere on Disney+ on September 25. The sequel to the 2015 hit ‘Inside Out’, which grossed $1 billion worldwide, continues the story of Riley as she transitions from childhood into her teenage years.

The film explores Riley’s evolving emotions as she navigates new experiences and challenges. The original movie introduced viewers to Riley’s core emotions—happiness, anger, disgust, fear, and sadness—through her early years.

In the sequel, Riley faces additional complex emotions such as anxiety, ennui, envy, and embarrassment, as she adjusts to the trials of adolescence, including the pressures of school, friendships, and family dynamics.

In the first film, Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler) faces a crisis when she disappears from the emotions headquarters, leaving Riley vulnerable to negative emotions. Joy’s absence results in a period of unhappiness for Riley, exacerbated by the influence of emotions like sadness, which affect Riley’s cherished memories. Joy’s eventual return teaches the importance of embracing all emotions, including sadness, as essential for a balanced and fulfilling life.

The sequel brings back the beloved characters with Poehler reprising her role as Joy, alongside Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, and features Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan as Riley’s parents. As Riley's emotions adjust to her changing life, they must also adapt to their own feelings of insecurity about being replaced.

‘Inside Out 2’ promises to delve deeper into the intricacies of emotional growth, offering a poignant look at the teenage experience through the lens of Riley’s ever-evolving emotional landscape.
