Is Billie Eilish The New Bond Girl
Billie Eilish is the coolest girl in town, so of course she’s going to be voicing the new Bond OST. Duh.
Billie’s Twitter account broke the news with a simple tweet that read – “billie has written and recorded the James Bond OST. she is the youngest singer to do so.”
The announcement came after a two-day social campaign tease that went fairly unnoticed, finally culminating in a confirmation from both Billie and Finneas as well as the 007 team. Eilish has written and recorded the track in collaboration with her brother Finneas, a mainstay in her production team. There is no news about the theme or sound of the track. The release date and title of the track remain unknown as well.
Billie, who now laps up another record by being the youngest singer to ever sing the James Bond OST, follows a legacy of some pop greats who have conquered the feat of combining cinematic thrill with their own unique sounds. Adele’s “Skyfall”, Tina Turner’s “Golden Eye” and Sam Smith’s “Writing’s on the Wall” are just a few Bond OSTs to grace the charts.
The 18 year old songstress and her brother are elated to be participants in the music for the film, saying “We feel so so lucky to play a small role in such a legendary franchise, long live 007.” Billie further stated “It feels crazy to be a part of this in every way. To be able to score the theme song to a film that is part of such a legendary series is a huge honor. James Bond is the coolest film franchise ever to exist. I’m still in shock”.
Beyonce and Ariana Grande, both icons in their own right, were speculated to be the new voice of the bond series, but hey, now that we know, Eilish – with her unique pop sound and intensely emotional writing – seem like the perfect fit, after all.
The latest installation of the Bond series “No Time To Die” will premiere in theatres in April.
