ITZY Reveals Striking New Visual for ‘Imaginary Friend’

K-pop girl group ITZY has unveiled a music video for ‘Imaginary Friend,’ one of the two title tracks from their latest mini-album. In this powerful new visual, each member sits thoughtfully, examining the bloodied wounds on their hands and faces before peeling off their bandages and letting them drift away in the water.

In a recent interview with The Recording Academy, ITZY’s leader Yeji admitted she felt “worried” about recording Imaginary Friend, explaining that the group had “never sung a song that feels this dreamy and fantastical before.”

Imaginary Friend is one of two lead singles from ITZY’s ninth mini-album, GOLD, which was released earlier this month along with the music video for its title track. GOLD marks ITZY’s first full-group comeback since their July 2023 mini-album Kill My Doubt, which featured the single CAKE.

Following that release, vocalist Lia took a hiatus due to health reasons, missing participation in their January 2024 studio album Born to Be, aside from one solo track. Lia was also absent from the Born to Be world tour, which ran from February to August this year.

In other K-pop updates, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon has announced her upcoming solo mini-album, Letter To Myself, set to release next month.
