J Balvin Turns Purple

Artists are dropping tunes left, right and centre and J Balvin is no exception! J Balvin recently shared a new song titled, “Morado,” and a new video to go with it. This is a part of his full-length, solo, follow up to Oasis, his 2019 album with Bad Bunny.

Balvin’s truly made his mark in the music industry. In fact, at 32, he’s one of the most popular reggaeton artists in the world. Written with French singer-producer Willy William, his track “Mi Gente” soared through charts worldover, garnering him a lot of attention. In fact, this song even claimed the No. 3 spot on the Hot 100 charts after Beyoncé jumped on the remix. After this, he showed no signs of slowing down as he scored another Top 10 hit alongside Cardi B and Latin-trap master Bad Bunny with their single, “I Like It.”

“Morado,” which means “purple” in Spanish, is the second chapter of Balvin’s “Colores” single series. The song follows “Blanco,” which was released last fall. Produced by his right-hand man Sky Rompiendo, “Morado” is a cocktail of funky beats, bound by a creeping synth and a creepier premise. It starts off with a spooky mansion lit by the moonlight, like the beginning of every ghost-in-the-house horror movie. From the vines creeping up to the walls, to the bizarre lighting and some sort of creature moving under a carpet – it’s something out of a nightmare…that is until you enter the mansion. Alright, no more spoilers!

We can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for Balvin and we’ll definitely keep an eye out, just in case he plans on surprising us by dropping his entire solo project!
