James Gunn Unveils New ‘Peacemaker’ Helmet for Season 2
The new DC Universe is gradually coming together, and James Gunn has offered fans an exciting update. The DC Studios co-CEO recently shared a sneak peek on social media, revealing the new helmet John Cena will wear in the upcoming season of ‘Peacemaker’. Gunn, who also created the series, gave fans a glimpse into the origins of the antihero.
Sharing his enthusiasm with fans, Gunn posted a picture of the new helmet on his X (formerly Twitter) account. This alone sparked excitement among the show’s followers, but he also included a picture of the comic where the character first appeared. The postmarked the anniversary of Peacemaker’s debut in comics.

In a detailed caption, Gunn wrote, “On this day, #Peacemaker, aka Christopher Smith, made his first comic appearance in *Fightin’ 5* #40, in 1966.” He went on to discuss Peacemaker’s creators, Joe Gill and Pat Boyette, and expressed how perfectly suited John Cena is for the role, saying Peacemaker is a character Cena was “born to play.”
Gunn wrapped up his post with anticipation, saying, “I can’t wait to show you all what we’re cooking up now for @Peacemaker Season 2!” He also noted that ‘Fightin’ 5’, the comic featuring Peacemaker’s debut, was originally published by Charlton Comics. Though Charlton Comics faded over time, DC acquired several of its characters in the 1980s, including Peacemaker, Blue Beetle, Captain Atom, Judo Master, The Question, and others, who eventually became iconic in the DC universe.
